Here is the exclusive update on Nandamuri Balakrishna's most-awaited Gautamiputra Satakarni. Balayya's scion Mokshagna, who is all set for acting debut next year, will be turning as Assistant Director for director Krish.
Mokshagna wants to learn the nuances of filmmaking before making full-fledged debut as hero. Even Balakrishna is happy to learn Mokshagna's interest and immediately given his nod. While rumours are rife that Mokshagna is also acting in the film and it's not yet confirmed as of now, we got to know from highly-placed sources that Mokshagna becoming AD for the film is confirmed.
However, the trend of actors starting their career as assistant directors is not something new. Even Balakrishna had worked as an assistant director for his veteran dad NTR's film before Balayya's acting debut. Siddharth was an assistant director for Mani Ratnam until when Shankar spotted him and gave him chance as main lead in Boys.
In Tollywood, hero Nani was assistant under doyen Bapu. Veering towards Bollywood, it's a common practice for sons of stars, directors to start their careers as ADs. Hero Ranbir Kapoor worked first as AD before making his debut. While Ranbir assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Black, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra worked as ADs under Karan Johar for My Name is Khan. Subsequently the duo - Varun, Siddharth- was launched by Karan Johar himself with Student of the Year.
