t's not about doing something different but about making a difference," says Jagapathi Babu, explaining the intention behind the launch of his portal Clik Cine Cart. "There are a lot of talented individuals who dream of getting into Tollywood. I often meet people who tell me that they have a story, can do makeup, can work on the camera or even have lyrics for a song. But what they lack is a platform. We at Clik Cine Cart are asking anyone with talent to come to us and we'll show the industry what they have," he elaborates.
Through Clik Cine Cart, the veteran of over 100 films is trying to make Tollywood a lot more accessible for the common man. "Cinema industry is a fort which is difficult to break into. I remember, despite being the son of a producer, it took me nearly eight months to land my first film, because both my parents weren't in support of my decision. You can imagine how difficult it is for rank outsiders to break into the industry," he says adding, "It was my friends Vidyasagar (choreographer) and Surender Reddy (cinematogpraher) who pitched the idea of starting a portal. I was convinced that we could make a difference to our beloved film industry through Clik Cine Cart. I meet a lot of aspiring writers, makeup artists, cameramen, lyricists every day. We are just attempting to make the process of getting that elusive break easier."
The actor has devised a "transparent process" of identifying deserving candidates. "We know what we are doing and are going to select individuals based on their qualification. People need to fulfil certain qualifications to make the cut. The process is very transparent. Anyone can enroll themselves on Clik Cine Cart completely free of cost. We will categorise the applicants based on their expertise and experience under the 24 crafts of filmmaking. And filmmakers scouting for personnel can browse through the list of candidates based on their requirement," he explains.
So it's like a job portal that specialises in cinema professionals? "Eventually, Clik Cine Cart will not only become a hub for aspirants seeking opportunities but also a one-stop shop for filmmakers in search of professionals, in all the 24 crafts of filmmaking. A winner is always recognised but a potential winner needs to be recognised too. That's our motive," he elaborates.
Director Dasari Narayana Rao will unveil Clik Cine Cart today along with HD Kumaraswamy, ex-CM of Karnataka.
