The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to provide 3,000 more Wi-Fi spots in the twin cities and to begin with, 200 will be initiated and this will be beneficial for 21,000 persons, said Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy on Saturday.
Addressing a meeting of top officials from various civic departments including HMDA, Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), Water Board, Traffic Police, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy Collectors and others, for taking a coordinated action on various infrastructure works in the capital, he said the e-portal where citizens can file their grievances concerning all departments will soon become operational as the software was ready. The Ranga Reddy district officials were urged to identify the government lands along the Musi river on both sides as the plan was to take up tourism related works and also commercial space as part of the rejuvenation and beautification project. Both the Collectors were asked to provide basic amenities for the houses completed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) as the selection of beneficiaries has been completed, a press release said. The power utilities departments were directed to remove electric poles laying as obstructions wherever the roads have been identified to prevent mishaps.
A pilot project for accommodating street vendors on some of the roads was being initiated. HMDA Commissioner Chiranjeevulu, Hyderabad Collector Rahul Bojja, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao, Collector, SCB CEO Sujatha Gupta, Traffic DCP L.S. Chowhan, and others were present.
